BRUSSELS AIRLINES’ NEW MANAGER BECOMES AN INSTANT MASCOT FOR BELGIANS IN UGANDA

The formal introduction of Mr. Sebastian Spijkers as Brussels Airlines’ new country manager in Uganda coincided with the Belgian national football team’s second match against Russia last night and will certainly remain in the memory of the Brussels Airlines’ staff who were all wearing team colours, as well as of the Belgian community present on the occasion, after the team won a hard earned victory by a single goal in the last minutes of the match. Belgium is advancing with fellow group member Algeria and the outcome of the final group match later this week, when Belgium will play South Korea, will determine if they or the Algerians will go into the stage of the last 16 as group leaders.
Sebastian’s predecessor Benjamin Puissant had invited members of the Belgian community in Uganda and friends of Brussels Airlines to his residence to say farewell to them after serving for the past three years in Uganda.
He will now return to Belgium to resume his flight duty as a First Officer on the AVRO fleet the airline operates from Brussels to a number of European destinations.

The win ensured Belgium’s advance to the second round of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil and that the team colours will fly for a while longer at the Entebbe International Airport, where on check in for the Brussels Airlines’ flights the counters are decked out in the trademark Black, Yellow and Red national colours, just as is the case in the three other East African destinations of SN in Kigali, Bujumbura and Nairobi.
