Travelers to and from Belgium’s main airport in Brussels – as well as to and from other airports like Charleroi, Antwerp, Liege and others, should urgently contact their respective airlines or travel agents to ascertain if their flight will in fact operate or be postponed / cancelled.

All services in Belgium are set to be disrupted this week as the country is hit with three consecutive days of strike action across multiple sectors.

The strikes, planned for 24, 25 and 26 November, were announced at the end of last month by Belgian trade unions, ACV-CSC, FGTB-ABVV, and CGSLB-ACLVB.

This is the latest in an ongoing series of strikes denouncing reforms by the Belgian Federal Government which impact, among other things pensions, salaries and general working conditions.

The public transport sector has been called to strike from 24 November, while other public services and the education sector are set to join the action on 25 November.

A national strike will take place on 26 November, involving both the public and private sectors. Unlike other similar national strikes, no demonstration is planned to take place in the capital, according to a spokesperson for ACV-CSC.

The last national strike on 14th of October saw air transport halted, affecting all flights into and out of Brussels while public transport to and from the airport was also affected.

Travelers from the East African countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Kenya, using Brussels Airlines, are urged to contact the airline for guidance as to their new travel dates, should indeed no flights operate out of BRU as of later this morning,
