Blue Panorama returns to Mombasa ignoring election jitters

ITALIAN CHARTER RESUMES SERVICES TO MOMBASA JUST DAYS AHEAD OF KENYAN ELECTIONS

(Posted 02nd August 2017)

The coast tourism fraternity welcomed the return to Blue Panorama to Mombasa just days prior to the general and presidential elections in Kenya, saying it was a vote of confidence in the country, the destination and a sign that others should follow suit.
The flights link the northern Italian commercial hub of Milan with the Kenya coast and many of the tourists are expected to stay in Malindi and Watamu, besides hotels along the beaches both north and south of Mombasa.
It was Mohammed Hersi, Chairman of the Kenya Tourism Federation and recently appointed as Group CEO of Sun Africa Hotels who shared the news earlier in the day but other commitments prevented an earlier post in this regard.
112 passengers disembarked from the inaugural flight plus the crew which will be staying at the Kenya coast too before returning on the flight next week.
The Kenya Tourism Board too went on record to state that as long as the elections on August 08th, and the declaration of results, are conducted in a peaceful atmosphere, the country should see a swift return to a tourism boom for the coast where several charter airlines – inspite of generous incentives provided by the Kenyan government last year – have been holding back on request of tour operators over election jitters.
