Boma Hotels put into administration

RED COURT HOTELS LIMITED NOW UNDER ADMINISTRATION AFTER BUSINESS FORTUNES DWINDLE

The Kenya Red Cross owned Boma hotels, which include The Boma in Nairobi, the Boma Inn in Nairobi and the Boma Inn in Eldoret, have reportedly been placed under administration, effectively shutting out the management of the three units.
The business fortunes of the hotels dwindled in the recent past after an energetic start a few years ago, when the Red Cross had plans to establish Boma Inns at key county capitals but ultimately did only Eldoret materialise due to lack of funds.
Stiff competition in Nairobi in particular left the Boma Hotel financially struggling and with the Red Cross turning their attention back to their core mandate – they established the hotels in order to generate sustainable income – was the fate of the hotel group almost sealed.
It is not presently known what will happen to the Boma International Hospitality College, which is a tenant at the Boma Inn Nairobi compound and has in recent years provided quality training on certificate and diploma level for students seeking to train for the hospitality industry.
