PILOT AND PASSENGER WALK AWAY FROM CRASH LANDING

An AeroAndina MXP-1000 Tayrona aircraft, reportedly coming from the Lewa Conservancy and heading for Nanyuki, attempted to land on the main Isiolo to Nanyuki road following a mechanical failure, but ended up in a roadside ditch.
Both pilot and passenger escaped unharmed and walked away from the wreck, no doubt counting their blessings.
The plane, registered as 5Y-VBB, appears to be privately owned and contrary to other media reports were only 2 people on board, none of them tourists.
An air accident investigation has been launched to establish the cause of the crash.
