Celebrating 15 years of operations between Brussels, the European Capital City and Entebbe, Uganda’s main international airport, is no mean achievement. Yet it comes on the back of continued operations by predecessor SABENA, which began to fly to Uganda as early as 1953 in conjunction with flights to Lubumbashi, then part of the Belgian Congo.

The airline celebrated the event recently in a very public display of support from Uganda’s Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, who helped the Belgian Ambassador H.E. Hugo Verbist and the French Ambassador H.E. Stephanie Rivoal to cut the cake. Also in the picture is Brussels Airlines’ Country Manager Geert Lemmen, who like few others symbolizes the journey the airline has taken in Uganda, as he was the last Country Manager for SABENA before becoming the first Country Manager for successor SN Brussels, later rebranded as Brussels Airlines.
