NAMES MUST MATCH FOR PASSENGERS AS NEW BELGIAN LAW COMES INTO EFFECT

Since the 01st of January does Belgian law requires Brussels Airlines to perform a conformity check between the name on passengers boarding passes and the name on a passenger’s identity card or passport. Conformity checks have to be performed on all Brussels Airlines operated flights to and from Brussels, including those from the East African destinations Entebbe, Kigali and Bujumbura, and also apply for onward intra-Schengen flights.
All guests therefore need to be in possession of a valid passport, or where allowed a valid Identity Card when boarding with special mention that driving licenses and other documents like health insurance cards, bank cards etc. are not acceptable as valid travel documents. This rule also applies to children and infants traveling with their parents or as UM’s (unaccompanied minors).
Passengers will only be accepted to board their flight if the names on their boarding pass and their passport, or where permitted Identity Card match. Therefore, it is important that the official name is mentioned in any reservation made, and more specifically a passenger’s first name and first surname match official travel documents (middle names or second surname is not necessary in the reservation).
