Brussels Airlines is back at Zaventem

THANK YOU LIEGE, ANTWERP, FRANKFURT AND ZURICH – BUT IT IS TIME TO RETURN TO ZAVENTEM NOW

(Posted 07th April 2016)

Travelers from the Brussels Airlines destinations of Entebbe and Kigali will be happy to note that tonight’s flight SN 471 will make its landing in the morning at Zaventem again, now that the airline has returned all flight operations to their hub airport.
It was yesterday also confirmed from the airport authorities that Gates B are now fully operational again for both departures and arrivals.
The handling capacity of passengers checking in through the temporary departure gates put into place has also been increased and almost 30 airlines have or will as of today resume services into and out of Zaventem.
Brussels Airlines staff in the two East African stations will no doubt exhale a breath of relief, now that their flights no longer have to route via Frankfurt or in the case of North America connections via Zurich. This is of particular importance for travelers from East Africa flying with Brussels Airlines on to New York, to Washington which resumed yesterday and to Toronto where the inaugural flight will now leave this morning, 07th April.
All European connections are now also routing out and into Zaventem again.
The fight will now be on for the airline to reclaim load factors which prior to the Brussels incident were said to be high, and for Belgium to reclaim visitor numbers which, similar to what happened in Paris earlier on, had shown a weakened forward booking trend by tourists for the summer season.
From this correspondent it is a wish for happy landings for Brussels Airlines back in Zaventem and thanks to the many more readers this series of reports has generated over the past few weeks.
