BRUSSELS AIRLINES PASSENGERS WITH CHILDREN CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF DEDICATED FACILITIES AT BRUSSELS AIRPORT
(Posted 26th October 2019)
Passengers traveling with Brussels Airlines – and other carriers of course – through Brussels Airport, now have something extra to look forward to.
The airport has already provided separate family security checkpoints, open during the main holiday seasons, which are capable to dealing with the added items families have to carry with them to keep their babies and children fed and entertained.
Brussels Airport has now in addition also launched a new Smurf inspired kids corner on Pier A, which is open for families and individuals traveling with babies and children, ahead of their respective flights.
As all the Africa departures take place from Pier A / T Gates, is the new kids corner in the right place for passengers to take advantage of, as the map below shows.
Says Brussels Airport about the new service:
Travelling with babies and small children
- Everything for a smooth departure with your children
- What is there to do at the airport?
- Where can I go to change and/or take care of my little one?
Everything for a smooth departure with your children
Travelling with babies and small children can be quite the adventure. Here’s everything you need to know in order to avoid unnecessary stress.
Free baggage trolleys
Baggage trolleys are available free of charge. You can find them:
- In front of the departure hall
- In the baggage reclaim halle
- In the car parks opposite the terminal
- in the train station
- at the bus station
- at the car rental park
If you’re travelling alone with your children and would like some help transporting your luggage, you can always call upon the services of the Axxicom porter service.
A smooth security screening
As you know, the presence of liquids & gel in your hand luggage is strictly limited. However, you are allowed to bring sufficient baby food for the duration of the flight. Baby food should be presented separately for screening.
Small, foldable baby carriages and strollers can usually be taken up to the gate. At the security checkpoint these have to be screened separately so you will have to take your baby or toddler out of the carriage or stroller.
Brussels Airport pays special attention to families with children. To make your passage through screening as smooth and pleasant as possible, dedicated Family Lanes are opened during the school holidays. The pace in these security lanes is adapted to children and the staff can provide extra assistance with baby carriages and strollers or baby food.
What is there to do at the airport?
Kids Corner – Pier A
Let the kids let their hair down before the flight at the “Play&Care Kids’ Corner” at Pier A! They can have loads of fun with various games and gaming consoles in the Kids’ Corner. Looking for a quiet space? Then head for the baby care unit, where you can breastfeed your little darling, change nappies, warm up the baby’s food, or have him or her take a nap in the playpen.
The flight information display will tell you when to head for your gate. You can also use the free WiFi and free app, and opt to receive notifications.
Located in Pier A, the Kids’ Corner is open round the clock. Walk past Tintin’s rocket and you will find the play corner on your left-hand side. Time to play!
Airport games & play areas
Let’s be honest: sitting still for hours on end doesn’t agree with children. That’s why at Brussels Airport we provide play areas at several places in the terminal and piers where kids can get rid of their excess energy before boarding. You will find the play areas near gate A57 and near gate B40.
But don’t forget to keep an eye on our tiny friends: never let your children play on the escalators or walkalators. They might get their fingers stuck.
Expend some energy before boarding your flight! Our Airport Games provide plenty of sporting activity and entertainment. Regardless of your age. Airport Games are located at gates A29, A52 and B31. And there are new games and challenges to experience every season. Want to smash your record or challenge a fellow passenger?
Get acquainted with our Airport Games for heaps of sporting entertainment
- Play a game of table football at gate A47
- Find your way in the SOS Kinderdorpen maze at gate A29
- Discover the play areas at gate A/T 68 and B40
Food and drinks
Did you bring your own baby food to the airport? You can have it heated in all restaurants at the airport. Our staff are happy to be of assistance. Microwave ovens are available in most of the airport restaurants.
Children’s meals are available in the self-service restaurant Belgorama, the Italian restaurant Amo and in Panos in Pier A, Sapore and Panos in the departures hall and Hi! Brussels in the arrivals hall.
Shopping
Looking for a last-minute surprise like a toy or a book to take on board? You’ll find what you need in The Gift Box in the shopping area leading to gates A and in The Gift Box in the shopping area leading to gates B.
Where can I go to change and/or take care of my little one?
Most toilet facilities at the airport provide a separate room for changing your baby’s nappy.
In the Kids Corner (Pier A) you can change your child, breastfeed in a quiet environment or you can warm up in the microwave and feed/drink your little one.
