#BELGIANS JUBILANT OVER LUFTHANSA’S CHANGE OF MIND

(The all new Premium Economy Class – soon on all the airline’s A330’s)
Following sustained losses by Lufthansa Group’s low cost airline Eurowings has the CEO of the airline group seemingly changed his mind and according to information received taken Brussels Airlines out of the Eurowings equation, moving it to the same status like Swiss and Austrian. This will leave Eurowings with a greatly reduced fleet and orders from above to implement massive cost savings and reach profitability by 2021.
The decision was met with instant applause from airline circles, the business community and society at large in Belgium and in particular the staff at all levels at Brussels Airlines warmly welcomed the move.
Belgium is rightly proud of their full service airline, a key link between Europe and Africa. Brussels Airlines emerged from the ashes of SABENA, with the intermediate stage of SN Brussels, giving the kingdom an own identity in the skies across Europe, Africa, North America and to Israel.
The change of direction will give the Belgian national airline the same status as Swiss and Austrian within the Lufthansa Group, something Belgians have demanded for some time now.
Notably have aviation pundits from the moment the initial move by Lufthansa was announced, to put Brussels Airlines under the roof of Eurowings, cast doubt on the decision. A full service airline of SN’s standing simply has no place alongside a low cost carrier but deserved equal standing and treatment like other national airlines which came under the Lufthansa Group’s wings, something which has now finally been acknowledged.
The Belgian national airline has won many accolades in the past and is in the process of revamping its long haul fleet with an entirely new cabin product as previously reported by ATCNews.org.

Using Michelin star ranked chefs from Belgium to design their inflight menus has Brussels Airlines always maintained the highest level of inflight catering for their business class and their new cabin product with a separate Premium Economy Class cabin will be further enhanced by an upgrade in catering too.
ATCNews has in the past lobbied for exactly that move and is pleased that common sense prevailed in the CEO suite, affirming the airline’s standing in the market, not just in Belgium but across Europe, Africa and North America.
Brussels Airlines flies daily to Entebbe in Uganda, six times via Kigali in Rwanda and once via Bujumbura in Burundi.
