Busy weeks ahead for UNWTO Candidate Alain St. Ange

TRAVEL DAILY ASIA GIVES ST. ANGE YET MORE VISIBILITY AS LEADING CANDIDATE FOR UNWTO TOP JOB

(Posted 24th April 2017)

Travel Daily Asia has come out with a long interview on Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Candidate for Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation just in time for the WTTC Summit taking place in Bangkok in Thailand. The published interview has added a colour photo of St.Ange on the cover on this issue of Travel Daily Asia which came out in time for the Arabian Travel Market: http://www.traveldailymedia.com/newsletters/2017/TDA20Apr17.pdf

Alain St.Ange was last week in Addis Ababa for the UNWTO CAF Meeting of African Tourism Ministers and commented on his visit when he said: ‘This is a big voting block with 10 votes including Seychelles with its very own vote and it was important to build on existing friendships to get our fair share of votes in the first round of the 12 May elections. The African Union (AU) has endorsed Zimbabwe where as the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) with four AU States as Members has endorsed Seychelles, but these are endorsements and not an imposition on Member States‘. St.Ange sees the Seychelles bid as the only chance for an African win on 12th of May to capture for the first time the top position of this UN organization.

Alain St.Ange said that in Bangkok he will be attending the WTTC Summit and holding a series of private one-to-one meetings before flying to Indonesia for important regional meetings. The Seychelles former minister is also set to meet the press on the sidelines of the WTTC Summit before flying directly on to Lucerne in Switzerland for the 2017 The World Tourism Forum where he will be part of the Tourism "Think Tank".

As Alain St.Ange transits Dubai from Bangkok enroute to Switzerland he is also scheduled to be meeting with the Press in the UAE whom, while serving as Minister, he always courted and spoke with even during short transit stopovers.
