AIRLINE COOPERATION GIVES PASSENGERS WIDER CHOICES
(Posted 30th January 2020)
Cape Verdean national carrier Cabo Verde Airlines (CVA) and Africa World Airlines (AWA) earlier today announced a close partnership to improve the connectivity in West Africa with Europe, North America and South America.
From February 1st this year, i.e. in two days from today, CVA and AWA will start an integrated selling operation for the routes of both airlines.
Cabo Verde Airlines is a scheduled air carrier flying non-stop to a number of destinations in Africa but also to Europe, South and North America from its international hub on Sal island.
With this partnership, AWA’s passengers will be able to connect through CVA’s hub on Sal with other routes of the airlines, like Dakar (Senegal) and the Cape Verdean islands of Santiago, São Filipe and São Vicente.
CVA offers regular flights to Lisbon, Paris, Milan and Rome (Europe), Boston and Washington, D. C. (USA), and to the Brazilian cities of Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, and Salvador.
In addition to the hub connections, Cabo Verde Airlines’ Stopover program allows passengers to stay up to 7 days in Cabo Verde and thus explore the diverse experiences on the archipelago at no additional cost to airline tickets. NO VISA are required under this stopover programme.
Africa World Airlines in turn operates to five cities within Ghana: Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi and Wa. AWA also serves Lagos – point of connection with CVA – and Abuja in Nigeria, Monrovia in Liberia, as well as Freetown in Sierra Leone and Abidjan in Ivory Coast.
This partnership will allow passengers from both airlines to travel between airlines with only one ticket, checking in only once, and allowing baggage to reach the final destination.
Jens Bjarnason, CEO and President of Cabo Verde Airlines, states: “We are very pleased with this partnership with Africa World Airlines, which will definitely bring even more connectivity to West African countries. It is very important for CVA to create strategic partnerships to widen CVA’s range in West Africa, a growing market which is very important to us”.
Michael Cheng Luo, CEO of Africa World Airlines, says: "AWA is happy to add Cabo Verde Airlines as our latest interline partner, to connect passengers throughout our home markets in West Africa".
CVA and AWA’s partnership will become effective on February 1st and passengers will be able to purchase tickets through any purchase channel.
