CARLSON REZIDOR SET TO LAUNCH MORE OF THEIR BRANDS IN EAST AFRICA
(Posted 26th January 2017)
The Belgium based global hotel group has clearly set its eyes on Africa, where growth opportunities exist in plenty.
Besides, as previously reported here, new hotels in Kigali and Nairobi under the Park Inn brand, will before mid 2017 a Kampala property come on line, though the company was coy in coming out with the brand name under which this hotel, previously associated with Hilton, is to open.
Hospitality sources however have suggested that it will be the Quorvus Collection brand under which the ‘Pearl of Africa Hotel‘ will finally open after a construction period of more than ten years before Carlson Rezidor came to the rescue of the owners who had a major falling out with Hilton a year ago.
A Radisson Blu Residence, which will offer longer term guests the comfort of a hotel with the added home touch – kitchenette, dining and sitting room – is also in the making in Nairobi, reportedly not far from State House in a part of the city close to the various business districts but more reminiscent of a leafy suburb setting. This new development will join sister operations in such posh cities like Cape Town and Dubai, again underscoring the appeal Kenya has for global hotel giants.
A second Radisson Blu is apparently also planned for Addis Ababa while launches for the Radisson Red brand are also advancing in key African cities.
While there have been suggestions that the hotel group may also seek enter the resort and safari market in East Africa could this not be independently confirmed at this stage.
