An apparently botched landing attempt at Katchungu-Tchambogo, South Kivu Province, Congo DR,  has left the pilot dead and the copilot escape with reportedly serious injuries.

A Cessna Grand Caravan, owned and operated by AB Airlines and registered as 9S-EBT, arrived at the airstrip from Bukavu with no passengers on board and according to a report received from aviation source in Goma, struck an obstacle just prior to touch down.

A wing came off and a fire erupted instantly, destroying the aircraft.
