FIRST AIR ACCIDENT IN A WHILE IN KENYA AS ALL ON BOARD CHEAT DEATH

A Citizen TV crew of four plus pilot crashed in the Nairobi suburb of Langata not long after taking off from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. The plane according to records seen took off at 13.44 hrs and went down at 13.47 hrs, just a few minutes into the flight.
The aircraft, registered as 5Y-PEB sustained heavy damage and is said to be beyond repair. The manufacturer serial number was established to be MSN 0520.
After a series of crashes and air accidents two years ago had the regulatory body KCAA embarked on tighter oversight in regard of aircraft maintenance and pilot refresher training where required and this has shown results as the accident rate in Kenya since then dropped considerably.
Comments by the operator of the aircraft that the plane was in ‘perfect condition‘ were immediately rubbished by the aviation community who told them to wait for the air accident investigation to conclude before trying to whitewash themselves from any culpability.
