Cessna Grand Caravan crash claims 11 lives

COASTAL AVIATION CESSNA C208B CRASHES ENROUTE TO THE SERENGETI

A Cessna C208B Grand Caravan, owned and operated by Coastal Aviation, crashed on Wednesday during a flight to the Serengeti National Park.
The aircraft, registered at 5H-EGG, was operated by one pilot and carried several tourists but also camp staff, all of whom perished in the crash at the remote location of Empaakai Crater. The location is part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The Grand Caravan’s MSN was given as 208B-0476 and while entering service 20 years ago, was reportedly well maintained.
An air accident investigation is underway to establish the cause of the crash which hit Tanzania’s aviation fraternity hard.
Condolences are expressed to the families, friends and colleagues of all those who died in the crash.
