ANTHONY CHEGE BIDS GOODBYE TO KAMPALA AS DANIEL KANG’U RETURNS AS NEW GENERAL MANAGER OF THE KAMPALA SERENA HOTEL

Serena Hotels have confirmed that a change of guard is underway at two of their key hotels, the Kampala Serena and the Nairobi Serena.
Anthony Chege, after 11 years in Kampala, is returning ‘home‘ to Kenya, to take up his new position as the General Manager of the Nairobi Serena Hotel.
He has worked for Serena Hotels for the past 22 years in such positions as General Manager of the Zanzibar Serena Hotel, Deputy General Manager of the Kampala Serena Hotel and then as Country Manager Serena Hotels Uganda and General Manager of the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Anthony oversaw the extension of the Kampala Serena Hotel when over the past years a new wing was added with 38 new suites and rooms, a new top ranked Presidential Suite and a fully fledged Premium Lounge for qualifying guests. During his years at the hotel and in charge of both Serena properties in Uganda he received multiple awards for the two hotels and Kampala’s best fine dining restaurant, the ‘Pearl‘.
Said Anthony to ATCNews when breaking the news: ‘I am happy to be going home after working for 18 years abroad in Tanzania and Uganda‘.
Anthony is changing places with Daniel Kang’u, himself no stranger to Uganda.
Daniel in the past served as Deputy General Manager at the Kampala Serena Hotel, before returning to Kenya to take up a position as General Manager of one of Serena Hotels’ main lodges, before being appointed as General Manager of the Nairobi Serena Hotel. He was in charge while the Nairobi Serena Hotel underwent a major transformation during the past years, which saw the addition of new restaurants, meeting spaces and additional rooms, which the entire existing room portfolio was completely modernized and upgraded.
Daniel has worked for Serena Hotel over the past 29 years and is looking forward to returning to the Pearl of Africa as Country Manager Uganda and General Manager of the Kampala Serena Hotel.
