‘Clever’ elephants outsmart fences, ravage Nyandarua farms

Farmers from Raichiri and Mayu villages in Leshau Pondo ward, Ndaragwa constituency, Nyandarua county, have raised concerns over frequent invasions by elephants that have destroyed crops and disrupted their livelihoods. Residents described the elephants as “clever”, saying they have learned how to cross the electric fence erected to keep wildlife away from farms. Once inside, the animals reportedly trample and feed on crops, causing massive losses to local farmers.
