July 2019: Monthly News & Updates
Dear Esteemed Customers,

It is always a privilege to be writing this newsletter to you, especially as we approach the high season for 2019. These are exciting times, with much going on and I would like to share some highlights with you.

Inaugural 2019 TANAPA Tourism Awards

Coastal was honoured to receive 1st Prize Awards from the Honourable Minister of Tourism and Natural Resources Tanzania, Dr Hamisi Kigwangalla, in two categories:

  • Best Airline Operator on the Southern Circuit

and

  • Best Airline Operator on the Northern Circuit

at the recent concluded first TANAPA Tourism Awards show.

This is great credit to the team at Coastal and we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all our customers and agents for your continuous support and appreciation. It simply wouldn’t have been possible without you. Thank you!

Reinforcing Sales & Marketing

I’m excited to let you know that Beatrice Muia (Betty) joins Coastal to bolster our Sales & Marketing team. She will assume responsibility for building and strengthening our Sales and Marketing efforts, providing more support and coverage to our Dar, Arusha and Internationally-based agents. Betty is not new to the hospitality industry, with more than 10 years experience working for Hotel Chains, TourOperators and Airlines.

As we welcome Betty, I would like to thank Fatema Tapya for providing transition and continuity to the team. Fatema will continue to be an integral member of the Coastal family, resuming her responsibilities with Coastal Holidays.

Air Travel Checklist for Our Customers
To help us help make your travel experience that much smoother and enjoyable, please remind yourselves of a few policies and guidelines:

  • Please remember to carry a valid Yellow Fever Certificate, as it is checked at all entry points into Tanzania.
  • Tanzania is working hard to protect her environment and the beauty of Mother Nature. As such, Tanzania implemented a plastic bag ban with effect from 1st June 2019. There are a few exceptions (including allowance for an individual small zip lock bag for your liquids, aerosols and gels), but please do not bring any plastic bags (of any thickness) into country, as penalties and sanctions could apply.
  • We operate smaller aircraft to connect you into some of the most remote airstrips and thus, we do need to restrict weight and baggage. Our allowances are 15 kg including hand luggage. It also helps us when your luggage is made of soft shell. We do also offer complimentary baggage storage in our main airports. Should you still require additional luggage, we encourage you to procure an XL ticket for a further 15 kgs allowance, which is best done at the time of ticket booking.
  • It is easy to lose track of time while enjoying the surreal nature of Tanzania and/or East Africa, Whilst we do not want to leave you stranded in the bush, please respect our schedule and other customers’ time by reconfirming your flights in advance to avoid inconveniences and by arriving a suggested 1 hour prior departure for check-in.
  • We are restricted on carrying dangerous goods, but we appreciate there are some miscellaneous dangerous goods which are acceptable for travel. We encourage all our travelers to declare them in advance or at least at check-in.
  • Tight Connection? We suggest all passengers to inform our ground staff ahead of time should they have any critical domestic or international connecting flights. Agents and Tour Operators can help here too, by annotating the Coastal booking with inward and onward international connections.
  • We suggest all our passengers to check with their tour operators orTanzania E-Immigration Portal for visa requirements. It may be useful for passengers to have cash dollars (with bill notes after 2006) as ATM machines are often operationally erratic.

Please contact our Reservations team, your Travel Agent or your Tour Operator for any further explanation or clarification.
