Greetings ATCNews Readers and Partners,
We know things have been tough and uncertain, but please keep the faith. Let’s stay focused on the future and dream of better days to come.
Here in Tanzania, we are heading into the rainy, low season, which (typically) lasts from March through to May. It is a short-lived season and then we’ll be into our traditional high season from June, which will take us through to October. As much as the global situation evolves, we have a good reason for hope as our international markets evolve their recovery plans and head towards some degree of normalcy, albeit with a different set of norms.
As you make your own preparations, we want to reassure you that we continue to remain focused on the safety of our passengers and staff. Having made our 2-crew MCC (Multi-Crew Coordinated) cockpit the norm, we continue to reset the bar ever higher. Our managers and crew go through regular re-evaluations – there is a constant eye on our day-to-day operations and ensuring that we are following our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). It is a perennial journey with an elusive destination, but the ultimate prize is the safety of our passengers and staff. That chronic sense of unease with that definitive reward is what keeps us alert and ready to respond.
In the meantime, we have some exciting new developments planned. |

COVID Testing
TATO in collaboration with the government in Tanzania has introduced the Covid-19 sample collection centre in Serengeti National Park available at Seronera and Ndutu airstrips.
This measure is taken to reassure the tourists of their health care as they enjoy the world’s annual wildebeest migration in the Serengeti, as well as part of the grand plan to support the industry rebound. Another level of convenience and comfort.
Few items to note:
- The centre is open from 08:00 to 13:00 hrs daily
- Book an appointment 4 days before the date of sampling through the official website of Ministry of Health
- Results will be sent via email within 48 hours
NB: Please select "Mara Region" when booking appointments to avoid any delays.
Coastal and other airlines in collaboration with the government are assisting in transporting the samples. |

As we continue to improve our services, Coastal is delighted to extend to you an opportunity to benefit from our new discounted fare structure on various routes. The premise is that the lowest fares are available for those that can commit themselves.

From The Bush to The Beach
When planning a trip to explore Tanzania’s incredible wildlife, you should not miss the Serengeti and the Great Migration. The annual migration of giant herds of wildebeest and zebras across Northern Tanzania and Kenya, attracts not only human visitors, but also lions, cheetahs and so many other species, to make for one of the most spectacular events on Planet Earth.
Once you are done with the safari, hop onto a Coastal plane and let us whisk you way to some of the most famous beaches and tropical destinations, eg Zanzibar. If you want to try something more discerning, how about including Pemba, Mafia, Songo Songo for Fanjove … a variety of places to go scuba diving, whale shark spotting or simply while away the day in your own sweet paradise.
In our dedicated fleet of aircraft, we can connect you almost point to point, so you can spend the time enjoying the experience, including flying often below cloud level to soak in all the beauty and wonder of Tanzania, whether its catching panoramic views of mountains, bush or beach.
We try to make each journey an exclusive experience as you board our aircraft, the opportunity to connect and engage with our flight crew, or simply absorb your surroundings and trip, a bird’s eye view of all the amazing goings-
on in Tanzania – whether it is the majestic spectacle of Mount Kilimanjaro, the pristine white beaches along the coastline or the splendour of the Great Migration across the plains of the Serengeti.
Nothing really compares!

HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY
A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.
We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.
From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge. #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021 |
Asante
Thank you & Safari Njema!
