(Posted 12th May 2021)

Uganda’s Maria Baryamujura, an Ashoka Fellow and multiple award winner on a global scale for her community based tourism activities over the past several decades, has once again caught the eye of award judges.

As part of the 14th World Agri Tourism Day and Agri Tourism India was Maria and COBATI selected for the “WORLD AGRI TOURISM AWARDS 2021”.

The organizers of the event and the jury of judges wrote to Maria earlier this week, saying: ‘After seeing your contribution for development of Community Benefit Tourism across Uganda through COBATI – Community Based Tourism Initiative, judges were awed by your contribution in developing Agri and Community Benefit Tourism in that part of the World and consequently, on behalf of Judging Committee, we are happy to inform you that:

Community Based Tourism Initiatives-COBATI, has been selected for “WORLD AGRI TOURISM AWARDS 2021” in Sustainable Entrepreneurship Opportunities through Agri Tourism Category‘.

The Award Ceremony will be conducted in the International Conference on Agri Tourism 2021 scheduled on 15th to 16th of May 2021, Saturday and Sunday through a Virtual Platform.

They went on to say: ‘We warmly invite you to attend the conference and award ceremony.
Please inform us of the names of attendees along with email id, who will be present at the virtual conference, as soon as possible so as to send the virtual platform joining link‘.

ATCNews, a long time supporter of COBATI on many fronts, extends hearty congratulations to Maria on receiving yet another global award and for having been selected for the sustained community work her organization has undertaken over many years.
