On Saturday 25th July from 6pm Colobus Conservation is organising a progressive dinner and it is an open invite to all who wish to attend, but pre booking, no later than 21st July, is essential.
As this is Diani, we are putting our own unique swing on things. So regardless of if you are a Progressive Dinner expert or virgin please read the guidelines below.
What is a progressive dinner? – A progressive dinner is a dinner party with successive courses prepared and eaten at the residences of different hosts. Usually this involves the consumption of one course at each location.
However, this is for charity and as such we are scaling it up. We would like as many people as possible to join in the fun evening. Our aim is get 30 – 40 players who will move between locations in groups of 6 – 8 (you may not always be with the same people). This means we are looking for around 18 hosts (6 starters, 6 main courses and 6 desserts).
Diner, Host or Both?
Ordinarily each couple on a progressive dinner will host the other participants in one course, however this is Diani and we do not play by the rules!
Diner – You can simply join in the fun of the evening – stress free. Arrive at the meeting point at 6pm, progress to your three locations for your meal and join us for celebratory drinks at the end of the night. This option comes with a 5,000KSh donation per person.
Host – You may not wish to, or can not travel to numerous locations for your meal but want to join in the fun. If this is you, you can host an entire three course meal and have a different group of 6-8 people join you for each course! There will be no charge for hosts only as you will supply food and drink for three courses. This option is ideal for restaurants – but a one meal option and a drinks limit is highly recommended!
Both – In the true spirit of a progressive dinner host one course and dine out for the other two. This option has a reduced donation of 2,500KSh for the host.
N.B. We will be relying on hosts to ensure their guest leave their dinner course on time!
The aim of the night is to have fun – it is not about supplying fancy food. Meals should be quick and easy to serve – guests have 45 minutes from arriving at your location to eat your food before they depart to their next location. Diners will be scoring your night and prizes awarded for the highest scoring starter host, main course host and dessert host, but it is about the fun factor not the quality of the food. Hosts (of one course or three) are requested to supply the food and drink for 6-8 people, including yourself.
Single, Couple or Small Group?
It doesn’t matter – we are not following the Progressive Dinner couple rule here, just join us for a fun night.
Travel
Participants are responsible for supplying their own travel between locations. People will be paired up for the evening (you can stipulate who you wish to be paired with) and it is up to you to decide who is the designated driver.
Rules
There is only one rule and this will be the biggest challenge.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ON TIME!!! |
