CONDOR ANNOUNCES SECOND WEEKLY FLIGHT TO THE SEYCHELLES FOR 2016
(Posted 18th August 2015)
Constant engagement and regular interaction with key stakeholders in the German market by the Seychelles Tourism Board and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture have paid off handsomely it seems after Condor announced the launch of a second weekly flight to Mahe from the 13th of September 2016. Only two weeks ago did Minister Alain St. Ange pay a visit to Condor’s offices in Frankfurt, in retrospect now seen to confirm the additional flight and discussing the expanded cooperation with the airline in regard of marketing support.
Germany’s leading holiday airline has been flying to the Seychelles once a week for many years on a scheduled basis, using a Boeing B767-300ER in a three class configuration, offering 30 seats in Business Class, 35 seats in Premium Economy and 180 seats in economy class.
Last year Germany was the Seychelles’ largest source market for tourists with nearly 36.000 visitors even though France, now that Air Seychelles once again flies nonstop to Paris, has reclaimed the top spot. Arrivals from Germany have however shown sustained growth for the Seychelles and are one of the most fancied long haul destinations for Germans seeking sun and fun.
The present Saturday flight from Frankfurt to Mahe will continue and the second flight operate on Tuesday to and the following day from Mahe respectively. Said Minister St. Ange when commenting on this development: ‘[I thank] Condor for their total support, and also the support received from the Seychelles Ministries of Transport and that of Finance in the discussions that has helped to increase these direct non-stop flights between Germany and Seychelles. On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, and also on behalf of the Seychelles Tourism Board, we acknowledge the fact that this extra flight will benefit the tourism industry of our islands, and for this we say a big thank you as we assure you all at Condor that we shall continue to work with you to ensure that your Seychelles operations achieves the success it is expected to be’.
