Dar es Salaam set for 2015 Rotana debut

ROTANA SELECTS DAR ES SALAAM AS SUBSAHARAN ENTRY POINT TO AFRICA

(Posted 08th December 2014)

Rotana, the Middle Eastern based hotel, suites and resort hospitality group, has confirmed that they have signed an agreement for a 254 rooms, suites and apartments property in Dar es Salaam, which is being developed as part of the upcoming MNF Square project.

The company presently has interests in North and North West Africa, namely in Libya, Algeria, Morocco and Mauretania but is said to be keen to get a foothold in sub Saharan Africa too as part of a major rollout which by 2020, according to company sources, should comprise over 100 properties.

The Dar es Salaam property is reportedly being developed by the China Railways Group and will be managed by Rotana under a long term contract. Rotana’s CEO Mr. Omer Kaddouri was quoted to have said when making the announcement: ‘We are proud to have been chosen to manage this new spectacular 5-star property and our team is very excited about the opportunity to be in Tanzania. We are confident that we will introduce a new dimension of hospitality in the country. The property in Tanzania falls in line with our strategic goal to operate 100 hotels by 2020. Tanzania has tremendous potential and we are anticipating an excellent response for our debut project in the country. Dar es Salaam is a business hub and a key gateway to Tanzania’s safari destinations and the hotel will cater to both, resident and visiting business guests as well as tourists. The property will expand the available supply of luxury hotel rooms in the Tanzanian capital and we expect it to be very well received within the local hospitality market’.

No opening date has been announce however at this stage and details will be reported here as and when available.
