CRASH DURING TEST FLIGHT OF TRAINING AIRCRAFT COSTS TWO LIVES

A Piper PA28-180 Archer crashed shortly after taking off at Zanzibar’s Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, killing both pilot and a technician on board as they performed a check flight after aircraft maintenance.
Registered in Tanzania as 5H-TFD was the aircraft undergoing maintenance prior to the test flight and subsequently crashed during initial climb following a yet to be established malfunction.
Assembled in 1969 was the aircraft, MSN 28-25778, owned and operated by the National Institute of Transport, in short NIT, flying school.
Condolences are expressed to the families, friends and colleagues of the two who perished in the crash.
