It’s a year since I left Kampala (for a temporary?) move to the edge of Kibale Forest. I often wake to the sound of chimpanzees, black-and-white Colobus monkeys, Uganda Mangabey and Olive baboons.

Uganda’s tourism and conservation communities – and the public at large – were seriously upset following a newspaper notice announcing plans to build a hydropower dam at one of Uganda’s most popular tourist attractions! Akagera’s renaisaance continues!
I didn’t expect much when I first went on safari to Rwanda’s Akagera National Park. Seeing a leopard (a few metres from us) and three young lions, offspring of the first lions reintroduced to the park, quickly changed any preceonceptions!
