In summary, you now need a negative PCR test to board the plane; and a second one when you land, regardless of your vaccination status. The tourism industry has fought hard against this but thankfully it is only $30. The system received bad publicity initially but I’m pleased to report it only took me an hour to pass through Entebbe Airport last week so things have improved. Red list no more – PHEW!
The UK has disbanded its ‘traffic light system’ so Uganda (Kenya, Rwanda and all my favourite sub-Saharan destinations) are thankfully off the red list.

This week I head to Karamoja in eastern Uganda, the colourful focus of 2021’s World Tourism Day celebrations. I’ll be based in Moroto, where I’ll be leading the digital marketing training for the Karamoja Tourism Academy.
