KENYA AIRWAYS SCHEDULES BOEING B787 FLIGHTS ON MOMBASA ROUTE AS SALES BOOM

Bookings from Nairobi to Mombasa, in fact bookings from the entire Eastern African hinterland region to the Kenya coast for the end of year holiday season, are booming as many resorts, from Malindi all the way to the famous Diani beaches south of Mombasa, have offered special deals for locals and East African residents.
Kenya Airways has now responded to the surge in bookings by announcing the deployment, on certain flights, of the Boeing B787 Dreamliner between the Kenyan capital Nairobi and the coastal port city of Mombasa on December 23rd and 24th and then again on January 02nd and 03rd, to meet the added travel demand.
The airline normally operates Embraer E190 aircraft on the route with as many as 10 flights a day but has decided to deploy larger aircraft to facilitate the extra traffic expected for the Kenya coast before and after the main Christmas and New Year period.
A source close to the airline also requested that passengers from the East African region, connecting in Nairobi to their Mombasa flights, be reminded that they need to clear customs and immigration after landing in Nairobi and then check in again at the domestic terminal for their onward flight to Mombasa.
Duly registered foreign residents of Rwanda and Uganda should be able to travel Visa free to Kenya when using an Interstate Pass – something they need to request when exiting from either Kigali or Entebbe – and should report any anomalies by Kenyan Immigration officials, such as demands for a regular Visa to be paid for, to their national tourism board offices or the East African Tourism Platform for follow up.
