#Dubai’s #DXB to close one runway for maintenance in April and May

RUNWAY RE-SURFACING WILL IMPACT ON TRAFFIC INTO AND OUT OF DUBAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

(Posted 28th February 2018)

It is a month and a half and counting before, similar to a runway closure in 2014, Dubai’s International Airport will have to operate with just one runway while the other one will undergo complete resurfacing and installation of new cables and lighting.
Between the 16th of April to the 30th of May – no delays are anticipated given the resources Dubai will pour into the project – will only one of the two runways be operational and airlines operating into and out of Dubai have been asked to reduce or consolidate flights or else move to Dubai World Central, in short known as DWC for the duration.
The workscope will see some 80.000 tons of asphalt being poured, 5.500 new lights being installed and more than 800 kilometres of cables laid once the construction has been completed.
Both Emirates and FlyDubai will operate on a different schedule while the work is ongoing and travelers, also those using other airlines during the time in question, should find out from their carriers of choice what changes there will be put in place and if they have to use DWC for instance.
