The Classic Safari was so well received in February 2022, that for the 2023 event which is to be held in December, 79 drivers or teams have made enquires and 58 have paid to confirm their spot and, the majority of these are from overseas with only 13 local teams.

The challenge is that, as the Classic Safari traverses through a number of counties mostly in the remote parts of Kenya, accommodation is not readily available, as well as finding sufficient daylight hours to run the rally safely.

Whilst the WRC is in advanced preparations for the 2023 event in June, whereby we expect some 20 to 25 WRC and R5 cars to participate, along with the KNRC challengers, the East African Safari Classic Rally, popularly known as the ‘Classic Safari’ is facing another kind of challenge! We are oversubscribed for the event!

THE CLASSIC MANTRAAs Henry Ford said ‘If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself’; this is the mantra we have followed at the Classic Safari. It is not that we have not had our challenges, ever since we took over in early 2020. Apart from the Covid pandemic imposing restrictions, just like any other sport, we have had to make adjustments accordingly with the drought, the rains, and the increasing costs of running an event.
As the popularity of Classic rallying keeps growing, the organisers of the Classic Rally have decided to consider increasing the number of events they will hold in 2024 and 2025 with a possible 3-day Mini Classic in May 2024 and another 5-day event in December 2024 possibly incorporating Tanzania. So, follow us for updates and notices.
