#DUBAI’S TWO MAIN AIRLINES ANNOUNCE AN INITIAL 29 CODESHARED DESTINATIONS

(Posted 03rd October 2017)

Emirates and FlyDubai, both owned by the government of Dubai, in July announced a closer partnership after their joint chairman HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum gave the two companies marching orders to begin exploit synergy effects and commence a closer cooperation.

Both airlines have now, entirely on schedule, announced that effective 29th of October an initial 29 FlyDubai destinations will become available, through a code share arrangement, for Emirates passengers, considerably widening the global reach of the award winning airline.
Bookings are open as of today, 03rd of October already. When such flights are booked together will, as part of the codeshare, Emirates passengers receive complimentary meals on FlyDubai and the Emirates checked baggage allowance on flights operated by flydubai in both Business and Economy Classes.

Connecting at Dubai International Airport (DXB) makes transfer easy and under the new partnership passengers will benefit from a reduced minimum connection time between Emirates’ home in Terminal 3 and flydubai’s in Terminal 2 of 120 minutes.

Today’s announcement rings in the first phase of the partnership agreement that will, in future phases, see the creation of many more additional city pair connections as the codeshare agreement is expanded and both airlines’ networks are optimised.

Notably do both airlines fly from Dubai to Entebbe / Uganda but also to Dar es Salaam / Tanzania. It is not clear at this time to what extent the two Dubai carriers will continue competing on such routes.
