EMIRATES SET TO UPGRADE SECOND DAILY FLIGHT TO MAURITIUS FROM B777 TO A380

Good news emerged yesterday for the tourism sector in Mauritus when Emirates announced that they will from 01st December this year operate both daily flights with an Airbus A380. The extra 165 seats a day constitute a capacity rise by just under 20 percent, a significant boost for the island which in recent years has been underperforming. The two daily flights are operated by Emirates but code-shared with Air Mauritius and provide travelers from around the world with a one stop journey from the entire Emirates network of 143 destinations in some 81 countries. It is understood that Emirates and Air Mauritius are in discussions to expand the code share partnership beyond the Mauritius – Dubai route.
The three class configuration on the world’s largest passenger jet offers travelers the choice of First Class with 14 suites, 76 flat-bed Business Class seats and 429 seats in Economy Class. Mauritius is the only Indian Ocean destination on which Emirates is deploying the Airbus A380 of which the airline now has 50 in service and nearly another 100 on order.
