Emirates, Dubai’s award winning national airline, has started a US Dollar 150 million cabin retrofitting with the latest seat comfort in Economy Class and Business Class for their fleet of 10 long range Boeing B77-200’s.
This aircraft type operates without the traditional First Class and offers 38 Business class seats in a 2x2x2 configuration of the front cabin besides 264 seats in Economy Class with a 3x4x3 layout, remaining here behind rival Qatar Airways which offers a 3x3x3 configuration in Economy Class in the same aircraft type.
The Business Class section will under the new layout also see the introduction of a ‘social‘ area to allow passengers to mingle when the Fasten Seat Belt signs are off.
New is also that the middle overhead lockers have been removed to give the Business Class cabin some extra headspace.

The first retrofitted aircraft will enter service on the 06th of March on the Dubai to Fort Lauderdale route and the remaining nine aircraft are expected to be retrofitted and be in service again by the end of the year.

 

Emirates flies daily between Dubai and Entebbe in Uganda, flies to Dar es Salaam and also Nairobi, the latter being served three times a day.
