ENTER THE AFRICA YOUTH IN TOURISM INNOVATION CHALLENGE

Closing Date: 01 March 2024

The Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Challenge is a platform to invite innovative ideas and solutions that goes beyond technology but are related to the travel and tourism industry for review and adjudication by a preeminent panel of industry leaders. Those shortlisted candidates will be introduced to industry experts for mentorship and also to potential funders for support and/or partnerships.

What are the judges searching for?

  • The vision, distinctiveness, authenticity, and logic.
  • Evidence of innovation in travel and tourism or associated industry challenges being solved in Africa – such as technical, social entrepreneurship, educational, youth empowerment and job creation, environmental sustainability, community development, and so on.
  • Is the project viable?
  • What effect will the project have on travel and tourism, local communities, and/or connected industries?
  • Everyone who enters the competition must be 35 years old or younger.

CALLS FOR ENROLMENT FOR CORNELL UNIVERSITY’S EXECUTIVE WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP AND WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME.

 

In partnership with Africa Tourism Partners (ATP), Cornell University (USA), has made available an exclusive offer and invitation to Women in executive leadership and women in leadership to enrol for Cornell University’s two and a half-month online Executive Women and Women in Leadership certificate programmes.

 

To be delivered through the Cornell University’s eCornell platform, the main thrust of this programme is to drive women inclusivity across that African travel, tourism and hospitality value chain. This is one of the key outcomes of annual Africa Tourism Leadership Forum held in Botswana in 2022 and 2023 as well as a critical component of Africa Tourism Innovation Hub initiative being pursued by Africa Tourism Partners and key stakeholders.

 

Ultimately, the programme aims to foster leadership and professional growth for women in executive and management positions. Therefore, this special offer gives participants almost 90% discount of the University’s standard programme fees as a result of the partnership forged between the University’s and Africa Tourism Partners, mainly for the professional and executive development of African women in leadership and executive management positions.

INVITATION TO JOIN THE AFRICA TOURISM PRIVATE SECTOR ALLIANCE (ATPSA).

Africa Tourism Partners invites your association/organisation to join the Africa Tourism Private Sector Alliance. Endorsed by the Africa Free Continental Trade Area (AfCFTA) on the 4th of October 2023 in Gaborone, Botswana, the Africa Tourism Private Sector Alliance (ATPSA), is the only Pan-African apex body and platform for national tourism private sector associations and organisations for African Union Member states.

 

Birthed on the margins of ATLF 2022 in Botswana, the ATPSA will serve as a single voice and platform for positioning Tourism as priority sector across all African countries. The primary role of the body is to advocate for the removal of barriers to intra-Africa travel such as visa-free travel for Africans within Africa, improved connectivity within African countries, reduced cost of air travel across Africa, promotion of Africa under the “Brand Africa” banner in collaboration with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

THE AFRICA YOUTH IN TOURISM INNOVATION SUMMIT

Date: 28-31 May 2024

Venue: Windhoek, Namibia

The 6th and 2024 Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit & Challenge will be hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Namibia. The key focus areas will include but not limited to youth entrepreneurship, and students’ immersion in innovation, small enterprise development, personal transformation, and self-actualization.

Delegates will connect with African and global tourism leaders, entrepreneurial innovators, and partner organizations from across Africa and rest of the world.
