Ethiopian Airlines seeks to expand China network

ETHIOPIAN EYES THREE ADDITIONAL DESTINATIONS IN CHINA

Officials at Ethiopian Airlines over the weekend confirmed the airlines’ interest to expand further into China. It was learned that the airline is interested in expanding its network to Chongqing, Shenzhen and Zhengzhou and has reportedly already requested permits to launch flights.
Ethiopian Airlines presently operates daily passenger flights from Addis Ababa to both Guangzhou and Beijing. In addition they fly three times a week to Chengdu. The airline also operated daily passenger and cargo flights to Hong Kong and to Shanghai. Ethiopian Airlines was among the first African carriers to start flight services to China with the first destination being Beijing.

Recently had Ethiopian Airlines instituted various measures to expand its presence in the Chinese market, which air already the carrier’s single largest market.

Flights will reportedly be launched just as soon as the required landing permits have been secured.
