The official opening of the Sanganai / Hlanganani 2019 World Tourism Expo yesterday evening brought together hundreds of exhibitor representatives, buyers but also the participants in the various side show events like the culinary competition, which has raised huge interest among show attendants lured into that particular hall by the scent of good food.
Host city Bulawayo scored a double with the judges, taking home the trophies for Best Stand from Zimbabwe and Best Stand Overall.
The City of the Kings once again proved to be an able and accommodating host city and many foreign attendees already vowed to return in 2020.

Ethiopian Airlines scooped the Award for Best Airline Stand, beating home carrier Air Zimbabwe into second place.

Other awards went to such big names like Wild Horizons, African Sun, Antelope Park and Nnino Ceramics, a women owned and operated business which displayed local crockery and pottery.

The National Museums and Monuments Authority claimed a top prize too, after they had truly pulled out all stops to showcase their attractions.

The prize for the best foreign stand went to Tourism Botswana which beat India into second place.
Saturday is open day for the public who are expected to crowd the halls as they did in past years while for ATCNews the journey goes on from Bulawayo to Gweru today.
