Ethiopian Airlines will, come 08th of March next year, add the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires to their growing list of worldwide destinations.
The initial five times a week service, using a Boeing B787-8 Dreamliner, will operate on Tuesday and Friday out of Addis Ababa via the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. Traffic days were given as Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Ethiopian presently does not hold fifth freedom rights between Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires, requiring passengers therefore to board in Addis for their final destination on the Rio de la Plata.
Only in September did Ethiopian Airlines go nonstop to Sao Paulo after cutting out the intermediate stop in Lome following demand by passengers for direct flights, with presently four flights per week but rising to five flights a week from December onwards.

Ethiopian’s Group CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said when breaking the news: ‘We are glad to add Buenos Aires, our 6th gateway to the Americas, to our extensive global network. Our new flight to Buenos Aires will provide efficient connections to our network in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, including Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo, Mumbai, Delhi, Dubai, Beirut, Nairobi, and Cairo. We are glad that the flights will be launched on 8 March, International Women’s Day. To mark this important occasion and as part of our commitment of mainstreaming gender into our core business, the inaugural flight on 8 March will be an All Women Operated Flight. Currently, Ethiopia is registering rapid economic growth with strong emphasis on industrialization with the construction of industrial zones and the development of tourism in light of the truly unique natural, cultural and historical wealth of the country. As the national carrier, we are fast expanding our global footprint, currently covering over 100 international destinations across five continents, to support the country’s growth by facilitating its access to investors and tourists

Buenos Aires will become Ethiopian’s 6th destination in the Americas after already serving Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and São Paulo.
