LEADING AIRLINE AND LEADING AIRLINE BRAND TROPHIES HANDED TO ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES AT WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS 2019 IN MAURITIUS

Ethiopian Airlines took double honours on Saturday night in Mauritius, when the World Travel Awards for the Indian Ocean islands and for Africa were announced before a sellout crowd at the Sugar Beach Resort.
The airline was named as both Africa’s leading airline brand as well as Africa’s leading airline, leaving others trailing in their wake.
For the Indian Ocean region it was Air Mauritius claiming FIVE awards, being named as the Indian Ocean’s leading airline brand and the Indian Ocean’s leading airline. In fact did Air Mauritius claim more awards when the airline was named as the airline with the best business class in the Indian Ocean region, the award for the best airport lounge and the award for best cabin crew.
Among many other awards handed out on Saturday night was Port Victoria / Seychelles which was named as the Indian Ocean’s leading cruise port while the Seychelles were named as the Indian Ocean’s leading sustainable tourism destination.
Notably was Reunion Island named as the region’s leading nature destination, a reward for focused and sustained marketing activities to highlight the many natural attractions this French Indian Ocean island has to offer.
South Africa as a country collected the most awards, followed by Morocco and Kenya. The famous Manor House at Fancourt got the most votes to emerge winner of Leading Country House in South Africa while the Fancourt estate was named as leading resort.
In the East African countries did well known names once again make appearances on the podium, like Porini Camps / Gamewatchers in Kenya, Serena Hotels across the region, Auric Air in Tanzania or the Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Camp in Uganda.
Pollmans Tours, Baobab Resort and Villa Rosa Kempinski too made it into the winners’ category again as did Finch Hatton’s, Olare Mara Kempinski and the Kenya Tourism Board.
