Following a meeting between Ethiopian Airlines representatives and the Principal Secretary Tourism, Mrs. Sherin Francis and the Director General Destination Marketing Ms. Bernadette Willemin in March in Addis Ababa and subsequent meetings with the Ethiopian Airlines Country Manager Kassuhan Terefa in Victoria did news emerge that both parties will sign a new deal to cooperate in marketing the islands.
Ethiopian Airlines presently flies once a day between Addis Ababa and Mahe, although medium term is the airline expected to further increase frequencies using narrow bodied jets. Seychelles can be reached from any point of Ethiopian Airlines’ global destination network and in particular from across Africa with just one stop in Addis. Seychelles does not require Visa to enter the country though Yellow Fever inocculation certificates must be presented on arrival when coming from Africa and other pre arrival requirements must also be met before flying to the islands.
Mrs. Francis said about the meeting: “We have had several successful collaborations with Ethiopian Airlines, and they have proven to be extremely reliable and service-oriented. Ethiopia is an important hub with excellent connections, and we look forward to expanding our relationship with the airline.”
