The Bombardier Q400 fleet of Ethiopian has just increased from the previous 14 to 16 after Chorus Aviation Capital delivered two more of these aircraft on a long term operating lease.
Six more of these aircraft are on firm order with Bombardier, a manufacturer favoured by pundits to also bag an order for their CS100/300 series aircraft when Ethiopian finally makes a decision for a smaller jet type to join their fleet of presently 95 aircraft.
Ethiopian uses the Q400’s in a dual class configuration not just for domestic flights but also operates this aircraft on regional services during off peak traffic periods to such airports like Entebbe.
Chorus Aviation Capital owns 62 aircraft which are leased out to such customers as Virgin Australia, Air Canada Express, KLM Cityhopper, Flybe, Azul Brazil and now Ethiopian Airlines as the leasing company’s first African carrier.
