#EthiopianAirlines to hold press conference this morning

ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES CEO TEWOLDE GEBREMARIAM TO ADDRESS THE MEDIA TODAY

(Posted 20th March 2020)

Ethiopian Airlines, continuing to serve their network to such destinations, where no flight bans have been instituted, has indicated that they have no intention of laying off any of their staff. However, it was also learned that temporary staff and outsourced services may be under review with the aim to cut cost.
It is understood that a taskforce has been formed to look into cost cutting measures and an announcement is expected later today, what these measures may involve.
CEO Tewolde Gebremariam is also expected to respond to questions about continued operations to destinations where governments have not yet put arrival restrictions on airlines or have until now kept their airspaces and airport open but with more and more countries now implementing a lockdown – which involves a halt to passenger air traffic – is Ethiopian Airlines not immune against such measures imposed on them.

Ethiopian Airlines employs over 14.000 people directly and in addition has at least 3.000 more staff on contract
