Etihad’s new home terminal construction advances ahead of schedule

ABU DHABI’S NEW MIDFIELD TERMINAL ADVANCES AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

(Posted 31st August 2015)

Etihad Airways’ exclusive new home terminal, also due to be used by all Etihad partner airlines like Air Seychelles, Air Berlin and Jet Airways, among others, is reportedly making good building progress and will according to reliable information received be more than two third complete by the end of 2015.

Etihad, one of the three major Gulf airlines, has been playing out its own strategy and instead of joining a global airline alliance formed its own network through equity participation. With a growing fleet and a growing global network putting pressure on existing terminal facilities in Abu Dhabi will the new Midfield Terminal no doubt mark a milestone for the UAE’s national airline, when a sparkling new terminal will provide ground handling and a passenger experience matching the award winning inflight service Etihad has created in recent years.

Passengers joining flights beyond Abu Dhabi will from mid July 2017 – the Abu Dhabi Airport Company has given a provisional opening date as the 17th of July 2017 – be able to enjoy unparalleled comfort through new premium lounges, first class shopping facilities and wide open spaces when connecting in AUH for their final destination.

Etihad presently flies daily to Nairobi, in code share with Kenya Airways, and four times a week to Entebbe with flights to Dar es Salaam coming on line in December this year. All services into East Africa are operated by Airbus A320 aircraft in a two class configuration.

After Dubai for long set the standards and pace in airport expansion did Qatar’s Hamad International Airport get the better of both DXB and DWC after being opened last year and when Abu Dhabi’s new terminal complex is ready it too is expected to set new standards for international airports.
