(Posted 22nd May 2021)
Lufthansa’s General Manager for Southern and Eastern Africa. Dr. Andre Schulz, earlier in the week announced among other changes in coming months also a return of the Eurowings Discover brand to the Kenyan port city of Mombasa.
In his letter he said: ‘As from 24th of July 2021 our new leisure airline ‘Eurowings Discover’ will launch a twice weekly flight service from Frankfurt to Mombasa with onward flights to the dream island of Zanzibar‘.
The announcement also promises a doubling of flights from two to four from July 2022, at that time also including Kilimanjaro as an added destination in Tanzania.
The airline will use an Airbus A330 for the flights, offering a three class cabin layout of Business, Premium Economy and Economy.
The tourism and hospitality sector at the Kenya coast has warmly welcomed the announcement of the new flights, which offer hope for a revival of the industry along the Kenya coast which has been badly hit over the past 15 months since the outbreak of the global #COVID19 pandemic.
