FASTJET UPS MWANZA AND LUSAKA FLIGHTS

Fastjet has, with immediate effect, added a further four flights per week between Dar es Salaam and the lake side city of Mwanza, over and above the three daily flights already operated. The extra flights will take off on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, raising the overall number to 25 per week.
At the same time has Fastjet also added a fourth flight to Lusaka / Zambia due to rising demand for nonstop travel between the two countries.
The airline also confirmed that advance bookings for the new route to Harare / Zimbabwe are arriving thick and fast to assure a high loadfactor when the route will be opened on the 05th of August.
The airline’s Chief Commercial Officer Richard Bodin, who is also a member of the airline’s board of directors, had this to say when making the announcement yesterday: ‘We are thrilled to be adding these flights to our existing schedule. Fastjet has been the dominant operator on the important Dar es Salaam to Mwanza route for some time and these extra rotations will give our passengers greater choice and flexibility when travelling to and from Dar es Salaam.Adding another flight per week to Lusaka demonstrates the popularity of our international offering and that the Zambian market is embracing Fastjet’s service and prices. This provides a solid foundation for our planned domestic operation in Zambia, which is expected to obtain government approval in the very near future’.
Fastjet has also announced plans to add further international routes in due course and has since its legal separation from former partner Fly540 made an application for an air service license to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority where it is intent to set up their own operation just as soon as all prerequisite permits have been granted. Fastjet is also in the process of setting up an airline in Zambia while no further progress appears to have been made in South Africa.
