Fastjet once again reports rising passenger numbers

FASTJET’S PASSENGER NUMBERS KEEP GOING UP

(Posted 12th August 2014)

Tanzania’s Fastjet has reported increased loadfactors of 73 percent last month, inspite of risen capacity, after the airline added extra flights from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza to now 25 departures per week. A total of 52.839 passenger boarded Fastjet flights in July and according to a source close to the airline many of those continue to be first time flyers. Punctuality remained high too with 94 percent of all departures leaving on time or within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.

The launch of flights from Dar es Salaam to Harare in early August, already upped from two to three per week due to the rush for seats, will see a further rise in capacity this month which will no doubt reflect with yet another rise in passenger numbers, when the monthly reports, required to be filed as Fastjet PLC is a publicly quoted company on the London Stock Exchange, will be published in a few weeks.

Also on the cards remain flights to Entebbe by Fastjet, as the air links were cut by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority when they suspended all international flights by Ugandan registered airlines on the 17th of June, causing passengers detours and long delays in reaching their respective destinations.
