(Posted 09th March 2018)

African low-cost airline Fastjet will this month launch ticket sales through the South African outlets of Shoprite and Checkers Money Market counters as well as through ticketing brand Computicket. If successful, a roll out will be followed, over time, by expansion into other markets where both the retailers and Fastjet share a presence.

Fastjet operates four flights a day between Johannesburg and Harare, also serves Victoria Falls, and operates services between Harare and Victoria Falls, In Tanzania does the airline fly domestically from Dar to Mwanza, Kilimanjaro and Mbeya and more recently launched domestic flights in Mozambique. The airline also connects Lusaka and Harare with Dar es Salaam.

Fastjet’s four daily frequencies between Johannesburg and Harare are expected to attract a considerable number of travellers to Money Market Counters and Computicket.

Over the past two years fastjet has grown from two daily frequencies to four,” says spokesperson Hein Kaiser. “Consistently affordable fares along with our solid on-time performance (91% in January and 93% in February 2018) has attracted a multi-segmented consumer market to the airline; from business travel through to students and leisure. It really is the airline for everyone.” He adds that sales through Shoprite and Checkers Money Market Counters and Computicket will greatly enhance access to fastjet flights and bring the airline closer to many of its customers.

Computicket Head of Department Travel and Business Development Adrian Roodt adds that the addition of fastjet to its travel portfolio is very welcome. “I believe that making low-cost flights more accessible through our channels will assist us in servicing our customers better by providing them with more choice in travel options.”

Fastjet flights will after the formal launch be on sale at all Shoprite and Checkers Money Market Counters and Computicket.
