Reports were received that a fire broke out yesterday evening at Isiolo Airport in Northern Kenya, sparing parked aircraft and major damage to buildings.
Investigations are underway to establish the origin of the fire and collect estimates to repair the damages the fire caused.
There have been suggestions that the fire had started at a nearby ranch and rapidly spread into the airport area and compound, eventually burning a building before eventually local and airport fire brigade could get the blaze under control.
The airport does not operate at night with only security staff on duty, in part explaining the late spotting of the fire and delayed response.
