KENYA’S AVIATION SECTOR GETTING BACK INTO THE SKIES WITH A VENGEANCE AS DOMESTIC FLIGHTS ARE ALLOWED TO TAKE OFF AGAIN

As of yesterday, 15th of July, have Kenya’s leading domestic airlines resumed operations. Information received indicates that Safarilink’s flights to Ukunda and Vipingo are literally booked to capacity over the coming days already while Jambojet, the Kenya Airways’ subsidiary, has also reported a very encouraging booking trend.
Several coastal resorts from Malindi to Ukunda and beyond have also either reopened already – the Driftwood Club is relaunching tomorrow, 17th of July – or are in the final stages of opening their doors again to visitors.
Information received from Nairobi shows that Fly540 and partner airline EastAfrican have relaunched and are serving most of their destinations across Kenya again as follows:
- Wajir – Daily
- Ukunda – Daily
- Malindi – 2X Daily (1 From Fly540 & 1 from Eastafrican)
- Lamu – 2X Daily (1 From Fly540 & 1 from Eastafrican)
- Masai Mara – 2X Daily
- Homa Bay – Fridays and Mondays
- Eldoret – Daily
- Lodwar – Daily
- Kisumu – 6X Weekly
Confirmation is meanwhile awaited from Air Kenya as well as other local airlines operating out of Wilson Airport about their relaunch and their destinations and flight frequencies during the initial start up period and until international visitors are allowed back into the country and begin using air services to the national parks and beach destinations again.
Kenya Airways too has taken to the skies yesterday with flights from Nairobi to Mombasa and Kisumu, both destinations served alongside Jambojet.
