COURT GRANTS TEMPORARY INJUNCTION AGAINST RECRUITMENT OF NEW KENYA AIRWAYS FINANCE DIRECTOR

Former Kenya Airways Finance Director Alex Mbugua reportedly obtained a temporary injunction against his former employers to prevent them filling his position as recruitment for a replacement has reached its final stages.
Sources in Nairobi confirmed that Mbugua had filed a suit against Kenya Airways, aiming for reinstatement or else a hefty compensation, following the decision by the Board of Directors to relief him of his duties in January this year.
Mbugua presided as finance chief over the worst losses the airline had ever experienced and the new CEO Mbuvi Ngunze and the new Chairman of the Board Dennis Awori began cleaning house as one after another senior manager, thought responsible for the financial chaos, either left voluntarily, were not offered new contracts or in the case of Alex Mbugua shown the door.
Mbugua was one of the best compensated top executives in his field and is no doubt looking for a major payout, should his principle suit against the airline succeed.
The interim injunction will remain in place, preventing Kenya Airways from finalising a new recruitment, until Justice Monicah Mbaru renders her decision on Mbugua’s case on the 28th of April.
Sources close to the airline suggested that the airline had enough substantive evidence to terminate Mr. Mbugua’s services in January and expects a decision to come down in their favour.
For everyone else, it is watch this space on or immediately after the 28th of this month to learn which way the court decided, and, if subsequently an appeal will be filed.
