KENYA AIRWAYS SIGNS UP FOR TWO B737-800’S ON LEASE FROM GECAS
(Posted 04th June 2014)
Kenya Airways will in early 2015 take delivery of two leased B737-800NG aircraft to boost their fleet for flights across Africa, delivered by GECAS to The Pride of Africa. These deliveries, expected before the end of the airline’s financial year at the end of March 2015, will join 8 B787-8 Dreamliners which are due for delivery from Boeing directly between June 2014 and March 2015 as well as two more B777-300ER, also purchased directly from Boeing.
All current 6 B767-300 aircraft will leave the fleet progressively as the new B787’s arrive in Nairobi.
Yesterday also marked Kenya Airways’ return to the Paris route and the first commercial deployment of their new B787-8 Dreamliner, which had arrived in Kenya on the 05th of April and since then been used to train up crews, engineering staff and ground handling staff to allow for the immediate deployment of the additional 5 such aircraft the airline is expecting from Boeing before the end of the year.
